==========================

2009 closes in a month.

How would you rate your year?

What did you accomplish?

Write it down.

In fact, feel free to comment on what you did in 2009 at the bottom of this post.

It’s important to celebrate even small victories.

Maybe we did not get as much done as we wanted. Maybe we look back and feel like we crushed it!

Here are a few early editions of the Profit Letter… as a reminder of early challenges of the year.

This is issue 132 for the year!

Listen, you and I have a month to kick it in.

In a month…

You could launch a new product.
Build a new email list.
Publish 30 solid, attention grabbing articles.
Create 30 videos for YouTube traffic
Launch a coaching program.
Start a new blog to brand yourself.
Gain a few thousand Twitter followers.
Load an affiliate based autoresponder sequence.

And whole lot more.

You could do all of that in just an hour a day. That’s it. An hour. Maybe less.

Don’t coast till January 1.

Don’t say, “Well, I’ll just wait for 2010.”

No.

TODAY is New Years!

TODAY is when stuff happens.

You’ve got control of THIS moment.

Use it.

Make ONE solid goal to accomplish before the end of the year. It does not have to be huge or “impressive.”

Post it below.

Make it public.

Most won’t, but when you do you’re automatically separating yourself from the crowd.

Step on the gas pedal for the last month of the year!!!!!

Success is NOT an Accident!

Consumerism [131]

On November 24, 2009, in internet marketing, by Paul Evans

As we roll into the holidays people are consuming like crazy!

Food and deals alike!!

Here’s the thing, you DO NOT want to be a consumer when it comes to online business. It’s not about not buying stuff. It’s about buying with the right purpose and intent.

Here’s how to make a subtle shift in your thinking…

Download Audio -it’s only 10 minutes

or listen here

Nutshell:

Consumer = one of the crowd

Owner = ahead of the crowd

them IMMEDIATELY.

(NOTE: If you’re currently offering a 7-day “mini-course” on ?your
site, you need to be on this training webinar…It’s 100% ?costing

MARS has it right [129]

On November 14, 2009, in internet marketing, by Paul Evans

I love candy.

My favorite is Sour Skittles, but I also love candy bars.

Well, all candy across the board except Turkish Delight.

Not sure why they put delight in the name. It’s totally false advertising. And a bit aggravating.

Back to candy bars…

MARS Corporation does it right.

3 Musketeers… Nougat + chocolate

Milky Way… Nougat + chocolate + caramel

Snickers… Nougat + chocolate + caramel + peanuts

One ingredient created a new product.

One more created another new product.

Are you thinking what I’m thinking?

Right!

Standard Product = PDF

One ingredient = PDF + Audio

One more ingredient = PDF + Audio + Video

Let’s not overcomplicate.

The ingredients are basic and delicious.

Continuity Remix [128]

On November 13, 2009, in internet marketing, by Paul Evans

Nicheology Profit Letter 128

================================

Yes! Yes! Yes!

Just made the last orthodontist payment for Steven.

Now our good doctor is going to have to come up with another victim… uh… patient to take the place of my payment.

Yep, his 2 year micro-continuity plan is complete. His fixed-term system is complete.

O… thought micro-continuity and fixed-term memberships were new?

Not by a long shot. Just reframed for online markets.

You know, I really like Jimmy D. Brown’s fixed-term model.

http://budurl.com/FixedTerm

And of course you KNOW I am a huge fan of the low priced long-term membership model.

http://www.simplesixfigures.com

And the standard subscription model…

http://www.membershipcsi.com

Why?

Several reasons…

First, the most obvious is recurring income. No wondering about the guesswork of next months receipts. You do not have to start from scratch each month with brand new sales.

Second, commitment. Specifically, yours and mine. Membership communicates presence. It communicates our commitment to the market.

Third, commitment. Specifically, the customer’s. A person who joins a membership is saying “I here for the long haul.”

Four, you get to help people over and over again. You get to watch them grow and gain. Fun stuff!

Listen…

Your business model should include some form of continuity. You need recurring revenue to build a solid financial foundation.

Spend some time this week thinking about that.

Map out a few sites you could launch and then pick one and go.

I was talking to a guy today who wanted to start a site. Big plans. Great ideas.

Then I asked, “What can you do today that you could open tomorrow?”

BOOM!

He had an idea. It was something he was already doing. Just needed to put it in a digital package.

He could easily be open by this time tomorrow.

So could you.

Shoe Tying [127]

On November 11, 2009, in internet marketing, by Paul Evans

================================

My oldest has “outgrown” me.

Last night he borrowed my car.

“Dad can I borrow your car? I want to save gas in my truck.”

Nice.

He’s responsible for his gasoline and insurance and oil and…

Well, we bought him a shell with an engine and let him take care of it from there.

Since he took my car last night, when I got in this morning my feet barely touched the pedals.

Hmmmm…..

He does that on purpose. Just to remind me. He’s a big boy now.

Growing up.

Maturing.

You know, if he was whining about not being able to tie his shoes I wouldn’t have a whole lot of patience.

Heck, you can learn it on YouTube

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lc4H6goKFB0

Here’s how in 2 seconds…

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qePt74mqA5A

Here’s how with one hand…

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SGerCTSHyZQ

If he wanted me to feed him, we would have some issues.

If he wanted me to pay for all his stuff… well, we’d just laugh about that. (The boy has several jobs for goodness sake!)

Now then…

If you have been trying to make money online less than six months, take the following with a grain of salt. PLEASE, don’t be too sensitive about what follows.

Aaahem (throat clearing)

There are a lot of “immature” online business people. People who claim to have been “trying” for years. Not newbies. Not first timers.

I’m talking Rip Van Winkle internet marketers…

“I don’t know how to ___________.”

“Why isn’t everything free if you really want to help people ____________.”

“No… I don’t have a website, a blog, a squeeze page no one will ______________________.”

Loved what I saw on a blog today.

Comment: I bought “product,” but it wasn’t very good. It never covered x, y and z.

Blogger: Yes it did and here’s where and how. It was detailed.

Could it be that some folks are trying to approach business in the same coma they approach life in?

Could it be that all the instructions are there, but the boring monotony of the day to day creates a haze?

Tying shoes.

“But should I loop left or right first?”

“Should I go one handed?”

“Can everyone really tie their shoes in 2 seconds or is that just for the ultra talented shoe tiers with cool fast shoe tying friends?”

“What’s the best way to tie my shoes?”

JUST TIE THE SHOES?! :-)

There’s no perfect way. However the shoes get tied is OK.

There’s no perfect way to do business. No ideal way. It’s shoe tying.

People in need.

We provide stuff.

They buy it and are happy.

We get income and we are happy.

Everyone’s happy.

Shoe tying.

Let’s keep it simple.

O well… maybe I can reach the pedals in the morning. :-)

Success is NOT an Accident!
Paul

P.S. Tying shoes the first time can be hard. No, I am not going to sell you a shoe tying kit. But one is coming at the first of the year…

www.nicheology.com/join You can’t join though. Scroll down a bit and take a peak at the “Starting Blocks” course coming in January.

P.P.S. Do some stuff that counts in life this week. Not just business. Be kind to the cashier. Smile at the taxi driver. Help and old lady cross the street.
