The last day of 2009.
How was it?
In one word, how was 2009 for you?
2009 was ___________________.
People say things like, it’s “time to put 2009 behind us.”
Maybe.
Or maybe we should look success and failure right in the eyes.
Each year isn’t solo. It builds on the one before. And before that.
Where we are right now is the cumulative effect of every moment to this point.
Positive and negative.
Intentional and unintentional.
Controlled and chaos.

What are you MOST proud of accomplishing in ‘09?

What skills did you gain this year to use in your online business?

Where did you blow it?

Each year builds on the next.
What are you going to do WITH that first list?
What are you going to do ABOUT that second list?
It’s your call.
——————————————————
2010 : Looking Ahead
——————————————————
Is 2010 really going to be as different as forecasted?
Yes.
There are so many good feelings about 2010 as compared to the last 2 years that things are going to “turn around.”
When the mass of humanity believes in something it actually happens. People start doing stuff. Things start changing.
Why were the last 2 years so blaaaaaaah? Because people believed and then lived like it. (It really wasn’t that bad. But perception and reality are so desperately linked that only the strongest can pull them apart.)
Now, on the other hand.
A lot of problems are going to remain for entrepreneurs in 2010.
Overload.
Overwhelm.
Distraction.
No plan.
No discipline.
No direction.
The same story over and over. Like a skipping single from a 1980’s one hit wonder.
Those won’t vanish. Every entrepreneur faces them. They are not unique. And those who pound them. Conquer them. Beat the crap out of them. Those are the people who will really get ahead.
——————————————————
2010 : Life Continues
——————————————————
If you’re plan is to “ease” into 2010. Then stop reading. The unsubscribe link is at the bottom. Don’t take this the wrong way, but you don’t want to be helped.
I know, I know that’s not real sensitive. It’s forbidden in the marketer’s handbook.
But here’s the thing. Most marketers, internet junkies, so called “gurus” have to do everything possible to keep you in their good graces because they’re trying to make a buck. I simply don’t need the money that bad.
This is the 143rd issue of the profit letter for this year. I operate four continuity programs. Launched 23 new sites in ’09. Got 3 books in print. Partnered with friends to create a high-level coaching program. Blah. Blah. Blah.
That wasn’t outsourced stuff either.
And…
That’s not bragging it’s a setup.
You know I spend at least half my time as the director of 100X Missions. I’ve got a family. Steven plays sports. Sam’s a graphic designer. My girl is a teacher. And there are all sorts of extra-school events we go to.
We’re super involved at church. I lead worship and teach. The boys are in the youth group. Baby girl leads children’s worship. On and on and on.
We’re busy.
How about you?
And yet I get a CRAZY amount done. Finished. Launched. Profitable.
How about you?
If you read issue 138, then you know exactly how much time you have to work with.
If you don’t then here’s a question…
What’s wrong with you?
If you don’t know how much time you have to devote to your business (something that is totally measurable); how can you plan?
Forget all the reasons you can’t and start canning.
——————————————————
2010 : Important Stuff
——————————————————
1. 5%.
That’s the number of businesses that make it.
Michael Masterson wrote this in Early to Rise yesterday, “According to polls, almost all Americans — about 88 percent of us — plan to make New Year’s resolutions this year.
That’s good. But this isn’t: More than half of those resolutions are abandoned (or broken) on January 2.
Another 10 percent will be forgotten (or broken) on January 3.
By April 1, more than 90 percent of those good intentions will have mutated into regrets and rationalizations.”
Ah…….
That’s the problem.
It’s not businesses that don’t make it. It’s PEOPLE that don’t make it.
LOL! If people can’t keep (finish) something as simple as a resolution, how in the world are they going to operate a profitable business?
The good news. That absolutely does NOT have to be you.
2. 30 days
The next 30 days are crucial.
They set the stage and the pace for 2010.
Get on your mark, get set… GO!
Decide on ONE business goal for the next 30 days.
Launch one blog. Create one squeeze page. Make your first $1. Whatever. The what is not nearly as important as getting it DONE.
58% on the webinar Tues night said they did not have a product. There you have it. Your assignment for the next 30 days.
3. Partner
Find a friend or a coach or a mentor.
The bubble will kill you.
Going it alone sounds cool, but it’s hard.
4. Focus
Are you distracted? Too many thoughts? Too many shiny things to look at? Too many possibilities? Don’t know what to do first? Don’t know where to go next?
Schizophrenic business building will drive you insane.
Go back to #2 above. Concentrate on the ONE target. You do not have to do everything at once. Just one thing.
Earl Nightingale said, “People are where they are because that is where they really want to be – whether they will admit that or not.”
Think about that a while.

It’s December 28. I started 2010 today. I couldn’t wait until the 1st. Just too many results needed right now.
We’re on the final article in the series…
Review…
Law #1: Control your time.
Law #2: Control your thoughts.
Law #3: Control your actions.
Law #4: Control your reactions.
New…
Rule Your Results: Law #5 – Control Your Change.
Time > Thoughts > Actions > Reactions = Change.
Few things aggravate me more than people who want to get results without changing.
“I want to lose weight, but eat the same.”
“I want to make money, but don’t want to buy stuff.”
“I want to create a business, but do not want to get up earlier or stay up later.”
“I want a better marriage, but do not want counseling or have to read a book or anything. I just want my spouse to love me more.”
Believe me there are people out there like that. No kidding.
However, if you want to Rule Your Results, you have to change from what you are into what you have to be to reach the targets you set. You have to be and do things differently from the status quo.
When you take control. When you become intentional, the change process beings and there’s no turning back.
This is HUGE.
The average resolution setter, business started doesn’t change.
They see the process as a temporary shift. But once they hit their numbers they go back to the way it was.
There are tons of folks thinking about dropping fat right now. They are making a 2 or 3 month plan. They see a finish line. They are willing to alter their lifestyle for a bit, They are willing to be inconvenienced for a couple months.
IF, IF they make it to the deadline they suddenly reverse and go right back to the same pattern that got them in trouble in the first place.
This law is NOT about a temporary shift, but a forever change. When you practice the first four laws, you change!
If you’re trying to make a few temporary tweaks and expecting amazing results, then stick your head under some ice water. Wake up.
On the other hand if you’re willing the to make REAL, lasting changes then be on the webinar tomorrow night. If you’re ready to OWN 2010 go here…

For those who celebrated Christmas or another holiday or no day at all yesterday, I hope it was great!
We had an incredible day. Lots of laughter and far too much food.
Maybe it’s not an accident that Christmas is just a few days before the new year. It provides a handy excuse to spend and eat more than we should. We totally convince ourselves that we’ll just be “bad” for a few days and then repair all the damage on the 1st.
The key to actually doing that is ruling your results.
Review…
Law #1: Control your time.
Law #2: Control your thoughts.
Law #3: Control your actions.
New…
Rule Your Results: Law #4 – Control Your Reactions.
We’re talking about controlling YOUR time, thoughts and actions. But you can’t control everything. You certainly cannot control people. There’s no telling what those crazy folks might say or do!
“You’re wanting to do what? Make money on the internet? Have you lost your mind?”
“You’re wanting to lose weight and shape up? Didn’t you have that same goal last year?”
“Quit dreaming and get a real job.”
“Look, maybe you just need to face reality.”
How do you react to stuff like that?
Do you…
Think they are right?
Get angry and want to prove them wrong?
Wonder why they pick on you?
Wipe a tear and then entertain giving it all up?
Control, control, control all of that.
But often the enemy isn’t “out there” and might not even be “them.”
Sometimes the enemy is a lot closer. Right inside our own heads (that’s why controlling thoughts is so important).
Sometimes it’s the bright red “hot donuts now” sign at Krispy Kreme (that’s why we control our actions).
Sometimes it’s one more slap on the snooze button (that’s why we control our time).
And if your head, a donut or sleep wins… then there’s a tiny, subtle reaction that can take place.
It’s dangerous too.
It’s called the “OK” reaction.
OK creates a false belief. A way of convincing ourselves that this failure to control time, thoughts or action is “just this one time. I’ll just cheat this once. Just a little. I’ll get right back on track tomorrow. “
(insert a low soft whistle as you read)
whoa.
That’s treacherous.
“It’s OK. Just this once” will KILL your dreams, resolutions and good intentions. They turn into chain reactions and then it’s over.
Whether you get angry at someone attacking your dreams or you get lax and unintentionally drop them one donut at a time – both are failures to control your reaction. The way you deal with what’s confronting you at the moment. Some things are major, some are minor, but all are resolution deadly.
Reaction does not have to be unmeasured and unchecked.
Protect yourself from runaway recoil…
01 :: Advanced Decisions
Chances are high that nothing unusual derailed you in the past. Everything I mentioned above is normal. And all of those could have a premeditated response.
You could easily prepare yourself and laugh at the skeptic, call your mind a liar, or yell, “NO!” to the donut.
You already know 90% of what you’re going to come up against. You can decide right now what you will do or say, so you don’t have to think about it at all when it shows up.
02 :: Accurate Assessment
Don’t OVERreact.
I hear people say things like, “I’m a complete failure.”
What?
That’s not even possible.
“I never do anything right.”
Huh?
Get logical. Think for a few minutes and really consider the situation before jumping to crazy conclusions.
03 :: Arrest Emotions
When it comes to reacting, more emotion is not better.
One time in India we did not use the right taxi system. About 20 drivers surrounded our vehicle. They threatened to disassemble the SUV and hurt our driver.
What if I had stepped up, got in their faces and screamed, “I’m an American and you can’t treat us like that!!!!”?
Yeah, I might not be writing this right now.
I couldn’t let my emotions take advantage of the situation. It could have been disastrous.
When have you ever made a solid, high emotion decision?
When have you ever made a BAD high emotion decision?
I’m betting the second list is waaaaaaaaaay longer. I mean waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay longer.
Enough said.
Control your time.
Control your thoughts.
Control your actions.
Control your reactions.
Success is NOT an Accident!
Paul

Christmas Eve!
We’re excited. Baby Girl just loves the holidays. And it’s not about the gifts and spending, but the whole feel of it.
Family, friends, special worship events. The lights and the singing.
Good times.
You know, it seems like every town has at least one person who is like Clark Griswold in Christmas Vacation. He not going to light up his house, but the entire neighborhood.
We have several of those and it’s awesome! (Rumor has it that the space shuttle astronauts called and asked them to turn the lights down a bit!)
The reason those kings of the Christmas lights bring so much fun is because of the next law in the series.
Recap: Law #1 – Control your time. Law #2 Control your thoughts.
Rule Results: Law #3 – Control Your Actions.
If you are going to rule your results you must DO until DONE.
Just like there is Fix and Flow time. The same is true for actions.
Remember from the first article in the series? Fixed time is controlled by someone else. Flow time is controlled by you.
Your fixed actions are controlled by another, but your flow actions are controlled by you.
What’s strange is the Phantasm Phenomena that takes place with fixed/fixed. Things become autopilot – almost like a Zombie.
For example – watch people on their way to work. Their time is fixed, it’s controlled by someone else. But their movement is monotone – its fixed in a pattern. It’s like the Night of the Living Dead out there.
This is important.
Think about it for a second.
The average person is living a mediocre, rote, monotone, routine, colorless, drab, flat life.
I DON’T WANT THAT. How about you?
Control your actions and you bring warmth, depth… life into your life. You have meaning and purpose.
Writing this article is Action Control. I’m doing what I want to do, when I want to do it.
It’s fun. I’m happy.
Here’s how to control your actions…
01 : Plan What.
Write down exactly what you want to do. (Write an article, create a website, workout.)
02 : Plan When.
Set a specific time to do it. (8:15 am, Noon, 7:10 pm)
03 : Plan Wealth
Create a picture of the result. What will happen when you do this task? (One step closer to weight loss goal, one step closer to a product, one step closer to impacting lives.)
Yes, part of life is doing what we have to do when we have to do it as told to us by other people. (Like when my girl reminds me that it’s trash day.)
But when it comes to actions YOU are in control of, you MUST be intentional. You have to be focused and get guerrilla on the goal.
Approach your actions with aggressiveness.
The “local Griswalds” Christmas lights didn’t just appear. They took action.
Please don’t tell me that those guys work harder on their lighting, than you work on your life.
Merry Christmas!!!
Success is Not An Accident!

Lots of positive feedback from Law #1 – Control Your Time. Control Your Destiny.
Maybe you feel like Stan who commented on the blog…
Paul,
I plead guilty. I agree with all of the above 100%. The problem with a lot of us, including myself, is that we are new to the business and are suffering with information overload. We’re going in ten different directions and accomplishing nothing. Just spending hours in front of the computer reading emails and sales letters for the next best great thing to make money. At some point we have to realize that we just can’t buy and do all this stuff at once. Stop buying stuff and FOCUS on one thing that we already have. And do it ruthlessly and relentlessly like you said. Thanks for the tips.
Stan S.
On to…
Rule Results: Law #2 – Control Your Thoughts.
Instead of letting your mind wander, get aggressive with your head.
Stop letting just anything in. Be selective.
Stop letting it go where it wants all the time.
Tiger Woods didn’t control his thoughts and you see where he is… hiding.
Completing the product, the sales letter, the autoresponder series, etc requires taking your thoughts captive. You cannot afford to get distracted. When you waste time, you waste money.
When you’re writing an article and you hear your email alarm, your messenger bong or your social media alert – and you actually follow like Pavlov’s dog you are NOT controlling your thoughts. They are controlling you.
What do you think about? What rolls through your brain?
Marketers often answer, “Making money.”
Ahhh… a nice, nondescript thought. Shallow and broad. Nothing for your mind to sink the cogs into.
Since you’re already thinking anyway, why not control it?
Think Specifically.
Concentrate on being precise. How much money? Get specific.
Think Profitably.
Concentrate on being wealthy. What can you think about that can actually be turned into money? What does you market want? How will you deliver it?
Think Directionally.
Concentrate on your internal GPS. Where do you want to go? What will it look like when you get there? What will it take to get there?
The answers to all those questions should be extremely clear. And if you couldn’t answer them instantly, start thinking about them right now.
The general population responds. They respond to what they see and hear around them.
YOU can really separate yourself by taking thought initiative. Control your thinking. Be intentional with what goes on in your head and what goes on in your head.
Success is NOT an Accident!
Paul
R.A.W. Results will be released January 1, 2010. You will eliminate distraction, overwhelm and procrastination. You will become a human time machine. You will get more done in less time, more accurately. You will complete more projects and control your life.

Rule your results.
In science it’s called “cause and effect.”
Boy kicks ball. Ball rolls.
Exercise and eat less. Weight loss.
Sell stuff. Make money.
Alabama crushes Texas in the BCS Championship. Everyone’s happy.
When you know the outcome you want [effect] and you ruthlessly pound your plan [cause] – you are ruling your results.
Leading into 2010 we’ll look at five laws that literally can change your life. They will change your business without a doubt.
Rule Results: Law #1 – Control Your Time; Control Your Destiny.
Become compulsive about time. You’re not getting it back. It’s finite and none of us knows how much of it we have.
One person may have 60 more years and another 60 more seconds. You can’t accurately value time because the amount is unknown and unique to each person.
What we CAN do is control the time we have.
My son, Steven, controls his time.
He knows exactly how long he will play a video game before starting homework. He knows how long his homework will take. He knows when he will do both. Rarely does he miss his mental numbers. It’s strange, but fun.
(And the kid is an athlete, which makes his time obsession odd.)
But maybe he got it from me. I’m definitely time irrational.
Controlling your time allows you to get more done, faster and more accurately.
It’s 5:38 am, Saturday, December 19, 2009 as this is being written.
I began at 5:30. I’ll be done at 6 am and headed to Cracker Barrel for a great southern breakfast with a friend.
I’m controlling time right now. I’m controlling destiny.
In the short-term this article will help all who apply it. In the long-term it will bring more customers. Which means more income. Which means helping more orphans.
How do you control your time?
First, what amount of your time is FIXED?
Someone else controls it. Someone else commands it.
Write down how much time of the week you have no influence on, it’s already planned for you.
Second, everything that remains is FLOW time. You control the flow of it. You determine what to do with. You decide how to use it.
Flow is where people waste the most time because they usually don’t control it. They’re haphazard.
Instead, become decisive about time.
If you have 60 minutes a day to devote to your online business then DEVOTE it. Don’t allow anything to interfere. Be relentless. No excuses.
Average online entrepreneurs kiss even their flow time goodbye. They spend time surfing around. Spend time in forums with folks who have no clue, but act like they do. Tweet their life away 140 characters at a time.
Get time conscious and time focused. Become acutely aware of when and what you do and shape it. Mold it like Michelangelo.
Control your time; control your destiny.
Success is NOT an Accident!
Paul

2010.
Ready?
By now you should have your personal, professional and gifting goals written down. And that’s not a cliche’ process. It’s mandatory. When people talk about not being successful I ask for their “target sheet.” A written list of what they want to accomplish. 99% don’t have it.
But some do claim to have a mental list.
Right.
Next, I ask for their “priority plans.” You guessed it. That doesn’t exist either. No blueprint and no strategy.
And finally, their “time triggers.” Nope. Zero clue of how long it takes them to reach the finish line.
In fact, there’s the opposite pattern. No direction, no process and no clear cut definitive point for arrival.
(These are the same folks who plan their vacations in more detail than their businesses.)
What’s your list building target?
What’s your product line target?
What’s your income target?
How will you get there? What will it take? It’s not much different than the pounds people want to lose. You make a decision and you work it. Simple and clean.
But here’s the hangup.
Lots of people make a list. They check it twice. The intentions are good. But they don’t make it to the finish line.
Well, this time it’s going to be different for you.
Over the next two weeks I’ll show you how to take charge and take control.
Whether it’s mastering your niche, setting up your first webpage, multiplying your online income or spending more time with family.
If you will pay attention over the next two weeks, 2010 could easily be your best year ever.
Get your 2010 list finished if it’s not already. Then let’s talk on Saturday and you will get the first law of results.
Success is NOT an Accident,
Paul
P.S. If you’re thinking “What’s this got to do with online business?” Everything.

Sunday our church participated in The Advent Conspiracy. The bottom line is this... Spend less. Give more. Many of the members decided to spend less this Christmas on themselves so they could give more away to those in need. More than $60K was gifted in our services.
That was cool.
What's even cooler is what we can do as business owners and entrepreneurs. The money generated through our businesses can help so many people.
Along with your income and other goals for 2010, write down your "gifting goals."
Record, right now, how much you want to give away in 2010. WHO you specifically want to help. WHY you want to help them. You may find that motivation for helping orphans, or providing clean water in a third world country, does more to get you going than dollars and cents.

Get More Optins...
Want more folks to enter thier name and email?? Do this...
Make The Signup Form Clearly Visible
Many people who are new to list building put their opt-in form on just one tiny area their webpage and wonder why no one is signing up. If your opt-in form is not clearly visible and without priority placement, you’re going to get very few sign-ups.
It is a much better idea to make it very visible and “above the fold.” That means that as soon as someone lands on your webpage they should be able to see your opt-in form without having to scroll down at all.
You should also make sure that your form is large enough to read and and uses contrasting colors from the rest of your site so that people’s eyes are drawn to it. Experiment with different priority placements to determine whether the form should be on the left side, right side, or front and center.
Consider Using A Pop-Up or Pop-In
There are a lot of differing opinions on using pop-ups or pop-ins with opt-in forms. If you have a pop-up on your webpage, a box will come onto the screen with your opt-in form when someone visits. Some of these even darken the rest of the webpage that the only thing people can really see is the opt-in form.
Keep in mind that some potential customers will find this annoying and will simply leave your page. Still, many marketers have found that it greatly increased their opt-in rates. This is something you will have to test.
Put An Opt-In Box On Every Page Of Your Site
Many people also make the mistake of only including an opt-in box on one or two pages of their website. If list building is a large part of your business plan (and after reading this, it had better be), you need to make sure your optin form is on every single page of your site.
If someone lands on a page of your website that does not contain an opt-in form, you’ve lost a potential lifetime customer.
By placing an opt-in box on every page of your site you know that everyone that lands there will have a chance to sign up. Making this simple change can dramatically increase your signups!
Put An Opt-In Box on Your Thank You Pages
If you have an information product for sale, the chances are good that some people will buy your product even if they have not already signed up to your list.
Since you don’t want to lose contact with these customers, you should make sure there is an opt-in box on your thank you (or product download) pages.
Some people force their customers to opt-in before they get their product. This is not recommended most of the time as it can really irritate people who have bought your product and just want access to it. What you might do instead is include an extra bonus for signing up – make it an offer they cannot refuse.

And if they beat Texas on January 7th – National Champions!
Now then, let me ask you some personal questions…
Was 2009 your best year ever? Did you knock it out? Did you make goals at the front end of the year and reach them? Or did you go beyond them? Did you blister your goals on the way to your most successful year ever?
I hope you were able to answer all of those questions with a solid YES!
If not, the ramp yourself up right now.
Make a forceful mental decision to take 2010 captive. You own it!
Write down EXACTLY what you want to acheive in 2010. Be precise. Be bold. Be clear.
Championships and Heisman’s do not happen by accident. Neither will your goals.

4 Quick Tips to Make Writing Faster and Easier without Sacrificing Quality
There are people who thoroughly enjoy writing while many others find it a truly grueling and painful task. If you fall into the latter category you most likely spend hours and unnecessary energy trying to put together content, be it articles, blog posts, eBooks, or anything else for that matter. Do you end up frustrated and ready to throw in the towel or cringe every time the task of writing finds its way to the top of your to-do list?
If you’re shaking your head yes right now, I’ve got good news! There are ways to write faster, make the entire process easier and produce quality content that gets read time and again. This article will help you do all of those things. Interested?
I thought you might be. The following 4 quick tips will help you view writing in a whole new light.
Quick Tip #1: Plan Your Topics in Advance
Nothing is more difficult for a writer than staring at a blank screen without knowing what to write about. This leads to frustration and disappointment and is actually one of the main reasons people prefer not to write their own content. Planning your content in advance is one of the biggest keys to help eliminate writer’s block and make the task of writing easier and even enjoyable.
First, as you think of ideas, be sure to write them down somewhere – preferably in the same place each time. This will give you a running list of things you can choose from when the time to sit down and write rears its head. I keep an ideas notebook on my desk and scribble in it all day long.
If ideas are the problem, there are ways to combat that too. One way to find inspiration is by visiting forums, message boards and ning groups that focus on your niche. These places are full of people who need answers to questions in your field of expertise. Don’t forget social networks either. Sites like Twitter, StumbleUpon, and Digg are overflowing with people who need your help or advice. Find out what they want and jot the topics, ideas, and questions down on your list.
Looking to incorporate keywords into your content for SEO purposes? If so, the next step is to do some keyword research at a site like http://freekeywords.wordtracker.com. This is also another avenue to find extra topic ideas should you need them.
Doing this research will help get rid of writer’s block, and allow you to deliver exactly the information your market is in search of.
Quick Tip #2: Get to the Point & Stay There
When writing, it’s particularly important to stick to the topic at hand. Don’t fill your writing with what’s known as garbage text that isn’t necessary. Find out what exactly your readers want and give it to them. Give your readers substance not just words. Here are a few good rules of thumb to keep in mind.
Once you’ve written your content go back through it and remove unnecessary words. Including these extra words will only bore your audience. One of the most common wasted words is the word “that.” If a sentence makes sense without the word in it – take it out.
An excellent way to combat this problem is through the use of bullet points. Before you begin writing you may wish to make a list of 5-6 bullet points that you want to “hit” through your article. As you write, cover each bullet point with approximately 2-3 sentences each. This will guarantee a concise, to-the-point article that your readers will enjoy reading each and every time.
If you need to add length to your writing, some options are:
- Examples
- Statistics
- Charts
- Case Studies
- Tips
- Definitions
Of course, there are many other ways to add value to your content without filler. Use your imagination and you’ll do fine.
Re-read your material. If you have to read a sentence or paragraph more than once to understand it, chances are your readers will too. Reword the information so it’s not so confusing.
Quick Tip #3: Take a Break
Have you ever noticed when you write for a long time you become frustrated, tired and uninspired? After awhile it seems increasingly difficult to get your point across. Yet, you keep plugging along because you have to get your writing done – perhaps you’re on a deadline or just want to cross it off your to-do list to be rid of it. Unfortunately, this will lead to more time wasted than gained.
If you take breaks in between chunks of writing you’ll quickly notice a huge boost in productivity. Your mind will have time to rest in between sessions and it will bring a level of clarity to your thinking. This will make the overall writing process faster, easier, and improved.
Believe it or not, forced writing is easy to spot. It sounds forced and most people won’t continue reading to the end if it makes no sense. By taking breaks, the quality of your end product will benefit if you give your brain time to rest.
Quick Tip #4: Don’t Edit as You Go
A mistake people commonly make is trying to edit while they write rather than once they are finished. This is counter productive and actually slows your writing down considerably. Making corrections while you go keeps ideas from flowing freely and makes you concentrate more on spelling and grammar than the points you are trying to convey.
You’ll get more accomplished by allowing your mind to run without extra clutter. Check comma placement later! Once you’ve finished typing (or writing if you’re a pen and paper writer) then and only then, should you be checking spelling, grammar and punctuation. You’ll be able to zip right through error corrections without wondering what you are missing in your content.
One suggestion if you find it hard to pull away from editing as you go: Turn the automatic spelling and grammar correction function off in your word process. Those little squiggly lines under misspelled words hinder creativity. Sure, they are cute and a little helpful but not while you’re creative juices are flowing.
If you want to write faster, be sure to plan your topics ahead of time, take plenty of breaks to rest your mind and avoid editing while you type. Remember to use bullet points when necessary, write a concise, focused article and you’ll be writing like a pro in no time.
Dread writing no more – or at least less than before!
