Past Your Peak

On February 29, 2012, in coaching, by Paul Evans

Let’s go back in time. Waaaaaaaaaaaaaay back in time.

Twenty-three years ago.

I say waaaaaaaaay back because that’s over half of my lifetime ago. :)

Back then I was a bodybuilder and a power lifter.

Back then I was in fantastic shape.

Back then I was incredibly strong.

Back then.

A few weeks ago my 16-year-old son Steven was admiring my physique and said, “Daddy. You’re past your prime.”

WHAT?!

I RAN to the mirror. Sure enough. I don’t look like I did at 20. Not as strong. Not as ripped. (OK, not ripped at all.)

So I’ve continued to RUN. But not to the mirror. I’m running as I make my way back into shape.

On this morning’s run I was listening to Zig Ziglar. He spoke about retirement. He said that retirement at age 65 was a travesty when so many people are just hitting their peak.

And then I started thinking about so many of you.

While there are thousands of young whippersnappers on the Nicheology Profit Letter there are also thousands of my generation and older.

Many write in saying something along the lines of, “I’m afraid it’s too late to get started. I didn’t grow up with computers.”

Maybe you feel past your prime.

Or past your peak.

Listen, you pass your peak when you DECIDE to go downlhill. As long as you’re working, striving and moving you’ve not hit your peak yet!

Has Betty White hit her peak??????????????

No way!

You’re never too young. You’re never too old. And it’s never too late!

I “Fought” Google and Won!

On February 27, 2012, in coaching, by Paul Evans

A couple of weeks ago one of my most profitable sites was hammered by Google.

I’ve told you more than a dozen times that my youth ministry site is driven by Adwords. BUT two weeks ago they shut down my account…

Notice the word PERMANENTLY.

That made me nervous. I did not want to lose the account. I’d worked too hard getting my CPC down. Starting over would mean paying roughly .60 a click more than I am paying right now.

So….

I clicked the “learn more” link. And….

That page also had a ton of links to explain exactly what their policies were. BUT that was too much to read. So I emailed them…

Please tell me EXACTLY what I did wrong so I can correct it.

Here was the response…

Within a day they told me three things that were wrong with the site…

  • Needed to update my privacy policy
  • Needed a direct link from my home page to any Adwords landing page
  • Needed a clear support link.

Pretty easy fixes. Which I did, but I was STILL denied.

But I KNEW I had taken the right steps. So… I resubmitted through their contact form because I thought, “Maybe I will get someone who’s new to the case and won’t see a problem.”

That’s EXACTLY what happened. Shortly after resubmitting I got…

So….

#1 Do what Google wants. Duh!

#2 If they shut down your site or your Adwords keep working with them. Don’t get arrogant or stupid.

#3 Google isn’t evil or bad. They have policies and as long as we don’t ignore them, our sites remain listed and our ads run.

Success is NOT an Accident!

Why Some Make It and Some Don’t

On February 24, 2012, in Uncategorized, by Paul Evans

Who is this gal in the photo with me and why are we smiling?

Paul & Carrie

This is my REAL best friend, Carrie Wilkerson (not one of those 'fake' friends that all the marketers pass around even if they've never met.)

Why are we smiling? This picture was snapped right after we finished an intensive training at NAMS workshop in Atlanta a few weeks ago where our audience feedback was higher than any other presenter or team.

Why is that, I wonder?

We're fun ;)
We are REAL
We are profitable and show you exact numbers & case studies
We are relate-able, honest and know this can be a challenge!
So - why am I telling you this?

Because you are tired.

Carrie had a reader that emailed her the other day (he has spent over 6 figures on courses, mentoring and info products) - he said 'frankly, I am ready for results. I am tired and frustrated'

Ever felt that way?

You could buy every 'tactical course' and 'instant system' on the market today, but if you're not integrating it into a plan or front to back blueprint, it won't work.

You cannot drive a car without the wheels, right?

So why are so many marketers selling JUST wheels to make your business go faster?

Carrie and I are alike in that we are TIRED of the confusion in the marketplace.

We are frustrated at all the big $$$$ launches for box-on-your-step and 'good luck' systems that don't piece together.

So, we're hosting a training webinar next week, March 1st - just for you.

This was our most popular webinar last year (over 1700 registered)

I could tell you more...but you can jump to the webpage, watch our side-by-side Kelly & Regis-type video and decide for yourself if you want to register.

Paul & Carrie

I hope to see you there!

What you need to know is -- you are not alone. Everybody faces frustrations in getting their online business started and ramped up. We want to help you solve that!

Join us on this webinar!

All the details are on the page. It's free. It'll be fun & you'll learn somethin'!

(I know you're going to love hanging out with Carrie and learning from her like I do!)

More Advantages

On February 2, 2012, in internet marketing, by Paul Evans

More Advantages…

As you know, I think all the talk about starting an internet business so you can be selfish and stock up on toys is a load of crap. It’s poor motivation that doesn’t last.

Those are just triggers used by base-level marketers to get you to believe their products produce yachts, mansions and Maseratis.

Yes, buying a nice house, car or whatever with the income you’ve earned is cool, but there are other advantages as well.

For example…

The other day Lain, from layoutaday.com, took her daughter to soccer practice. Since it was practice and not a game, she was able to attend our virtual mastermind session from her iPhone.

Lain downloaded the Adobe Connect App. She used the chat function to help other members of the group. When it came time for her to share and get feedback from the members, she clicked microphone and we heard her crystal clear.

How cool to be “at work” and watching your child at the same time. That’s an advantage!

Another example…

Right now I’m at an outpatient surgery center.

A friend called me a couple of days ago and asked, “Hey, I’ve got to go in for a test on Thursday. Could you pick me up at 6 am and take me?”

“Sure,” I replied.

“Well, there’s one more thing. They say someone has to stay there the whole time and it’s going to take about 4 hours. You cool with that?”

“Yep, super cool.”

So I picked him up this morning.

“Man, I sure do appreciate you doing this,” he said after getting in the car.

“No problem. This is why I do my stuff online.”

It’s so awesome to be able to say, “YES!” to family and friends. To me that’s MUCH MORE of an advantage than a big house or cool car.

The toys should be add-ons to the things that matter – not the other way around.

What’s your REASON for doing business online? What’s the #1 drive behind your business?

Add your answer in the comments section below…

I’ll do a drawing on Monday, Feb. 6th from all Facebook and blog comments. The winner get’s a copy of “The 10X Rule by Grant Cardone.”
