Nicheology Profit Letter
By Paul Evans
==========================
2009 closes in a month.
How would you rate your year?
What did you accomplish?
Write it down.
In fact, feel free to comment on what you did in 2009 at the bottom of this post.
It’s important to celebrate even small victories.
Maybe we did not get as much done as we wanted. Maybe we look back and feel like we crushed it!
Here are a few early editions of the Profit Letter… as a reminder of early challenges of the year.
http://www.nicheology.com/public/182.cfm
http://www.nicheology.com/public/183.cfm
http://www.nicheology.com/public/186.cfm
This is issue 132 for the year!
Listen, you and I have a month to kick it in.
In a month…
You could launch a new product.
Build a new email list.
Publish 30 solid, attention grabbing articles.
Create 30 videos for YouTube traffic
Launch a coaching program.
Start a new blog to brand yourself.
Gain a few thousand Twitter followers.
Load an affiliate based autoresponder sequence.
And whole lot more.
You could do all of that in just an hour a day. That’s it. An hour. Maybe less.
Don’t coast till January 1.
Don’t say, “Well, I’ll just wait for 2010.”
No.
TODAY is New Years!
TODAY is when stuff happens.
You’ve got control of THIS moment.
Use it.
Make ONE solid goal to accomplish before the end of the year. It does not have to be huge or “impressive.”
Post it below.
Make it public.
Most won’t, but when you do you’re automatically separating yourself from the crowd.
Step on the gas pedal for the last month of the year!!!!!
Success is NOT an Accident!
Paul

Great, Great post! As another commented ~ I am changing direction in various areas at home and in my business. I have decided to get serious, and the excitement is great!
Goal is to be income producing from home in 2010 ~ my first goal is building my email list ~ then up, up, up from there!
Yea for 2010!

Goals for 2010:
Finish my travel website.
Revise my novel and send out into the world.
Write a new novel.
Create an affiliate business.
Create at least 12 new paintings (one per month).
Help my husband launch his new business.
Paul, Thanks for who you are and the inspiration you have given me!

Sold a home in the worst possible time, moved to two new homes, which is the best of two worlds—the beach and the desert in Calif.
Started a half ass attempt at a web site and social networking. My goal is to become self sufficient with my art and voice by the middle of 2010. So I can
relax this time next year and enjoy the holiday for a change!
That would be the ultimate for me!

Hi there Paul,
Love the post and it really stopped me in my tracks.
I had been going along recently thinking that I had not achieved much this year online.
BUT
Reading your post and looking at the year with a clearer view I am able to rejoice i the fact that I:
1. earned just over $1000 online. Not a fortune but its a start!
2. found out that I had become the jack of all trades and master of none.
3. As a result of No.2 decided upon a business model and will be sticking to it
4. Have decided to look away from ‘shiny objects’!
5. Have enjoyed a wonderful year working from home watching my young son grow up – Priceless
So, as you can see I actually accomplished a boatload. I am now spending the remainder of 2009 going through my 14 websites making changes, binning off where necessary and moving my business model forward so that when 2010 hits I will hit the ground running.
I wish you and yours an amazing holiday season
Heres to an awesome 2010

Hey Paul, this year in 2009 I:
1. Started the Nat’l Assoc of Military Moms and Spouses in September. Currently there are 104 members.
2. Launched a blog for military stay-at-home moms.
3. Created a presence online with social media.
4. Created a great community of like-minded women who are actually using the resources!
5. Held my FIRST teleseminar!
6. Launched my FIRST product this week.
Goals for Dec:
Confirm speakers for tele-summit in Feb 2010
Promote some affiliate products
Post once per day for the rest of the year. (tough one)
Create action plan for 2010 (w/income goals, projects, relationship building)
Thanks for the opportunity and space to reflect! Didn’t realize I hit some milestones here!

I just launched my first product – http://oldfashionedchristmasstories.com. It’s a collection of classic Christmas stories and recipe books, 9 e-books in all. I have several non-profits using it as a fund raiser. They get an affiliate link and then send an email to their list of supporters. They get 50% of each sale.
Next up, my 31 day goal is to launch my next product,a personal development for working moms membership site. This goal includes starting a new blog to brand myself, gaining a few hundred Twitter followers, and starting to build my email list – publishing 10 articles as one means of doing this. Also getting connected to the training since I just started with Nicheology.

Hi Paul,
Here’s what I have accomplished in 2009 – Gave a bunch of money to guru’s – Wasted a bunch of time learning things that don’t work. Utilized worthless free traffic methods – more wasted time.
I have nothing to show for my efforts.
I do have a few new years resolutions though
1. Do not give any guru’s any money!
2. Take trial offers, if no money earned during trial, cancel!
3. Better yet, for clickbank products, if no money earned in 8 weeks using the product – get refund!
Have a Great Day,
Miles

Hi Paul,
The major goal for December 2009 includes three parts: complete writing ebook “Tiny Saddles building guide”, get web site up and running with domain name TinySaddles.com and employ Twitter to build following and relationships.
Keep up your great work, Paul.

Ah… got a bit carried away there! My next goal, I wouldn’t call it a goal for 2010, I’d like to get it done before 2010! It’s to have a simple system for doing business.
I’ve identified the basic building block of my products to be information articles. 10 articles woven together can form a small report. A few reports put together forms a short ebook. A few ebooks put together forms a solid manual or a course.
Articles can be posted on sites like ezinearticles.com as promotional tools, loaded into autoresponders as newsletters, converted into audio and video to increase its value – the possibilities are endless.
So, basically, my simple system would be a system for producing quality specific articles on my niche topics FAST and maximising the output of these articles each day. So my first step is to create a general template/structure for my articles.
Then I’m thinking I’ll create a swipe file of 50-100 good headlines for my articles.
Then I’ll create another swipe file of 50-100 good content starters for my articles.
Then I’ll select one of the PLRs or PITRs from nicheology.com that I’ve saved onto my hard drive and begin creating the content from those.
I’ll be aiming to write 8-10 articles a day at the start, and ramp it up gradually as I go along.
That would be my simple system for writing articles for my business. I’ll be creating a systematic process for other aspects of my business as well – salespages, social media, forum interactions, multimedia conversions… Basically a step by step process for me to perform all the essential functions of business moving forward.
Can’t wait for 2010!

Hi Paul!
Big fan of your profit letters, nicheology.com and what you represent in the market.
Honestly, my success in online business this started from nicheology.com. I was drifting along, as most newcomers are, in the vast sea of ‘get rich doing next to nothing in no time at all’ two months ago. Until I found your site. It really resonated in me that business IS all about contributing the value that I have and delivering it in a way that matches my passion and my heart for the market. Signing up for club level membership was the best investment I could have made to kickstart my online business.
My biggest success this year was getting my business started. I put the 10 day PLR conversion into practice on 9 Nov 2009 and I completed my book, 9 Days To Passion And Purpose, 13 days later. Now, I’ve got a site up, made my first sales and most importantly I’ve learned SO MUCH just by doing. Making mistakes. Getting things done imperfectly, and then refining and refining and refining and…
Yesterday, I got an e-mail from one of my newsletter subscribers (I’ve got close to 200 so far, simply amazing to me!) saying ‘thank you, it’s impacted me and its such good timing’ – and this was my first follow up e-mail (after the thank you for downloading my free report one) in which I basically laid out the newsletter plan for the next 2 weeks. Nothing particularly life-changing (well, in my opinion anyway) but wow. That someone could be impacted by me in that way, it’s such a tremendous privilege and honour.
Traffic, list, conversions = business. You’ve been sharing that with us, but I just want to encourage all the readers of this letter that online business isn’t just about money. I mean, honestly, I’ve got to pay the bills, that weighs on my mind every single day. So I’d be lying if I didn’t say that that’s one of my primary reasons for doing business. But it’s more than that. You have the potential and the privilege to touch someone out there who has an unfulfilled need that you can fill.
And you know what? Credit to you Paul for this site because you’ve empowered a generation of people to impact others in their own way. And for everyone else, just imagine – the ebook that you write, the blog that you set up… the people that you impact will end up impacting others who will end up impacting others who will…
Have an awesome day guys!

Hi Paul,
I have been wanting to thank you for your videos on product creation on the Nicheology website. Whenever I lose my focus or feel myself diverting from my course, I go back and watch the ones on purpose and passion. Your words snap me right back into focus and I keep going.
I will have my first three products created by January 1. That is my goal. Product 1 is nearing completion. The graphics have been ordered for Product 2 and the ebook is in progress. Product 3 is more of a challenge because I am including videos. The tech issues come into play.
Thanks again for your passion and purpose videos.

Hi Paul,
I have been away from home and haven’t had the time to get on the calls and study the on- line workshops. But this is an important month for me. I am re-vamping my life and changing direction. My new phone is a Blackberry Storm 2. I wanted to play chicken and return it, but I’m sticking it out and am detirmined to learn how to use all it’s Hi-Tech features. I’m inlisting my son and a computer geek to help me establish myself on the web. I’m taking too long to figure it all out. And, I want to go like the speed of light. I may take longer than most, but I will get it done. I appreciate you and your positive support.
You are an incredible Human Being.

Hi Paul,
Merry Christmas! And Happy Thanksgiving (belated). One of the things I am thankful for is you. Your simple message is refreshing and inspiring amidst all the hype about million dollar days. When I start feeling overwhelmed I remember that success is not an accident ant that it is better do do something that is just good than to do nothing because everything isn’t perfect yet.
So, so far this year:
-I have created an affiliate site to help people stay married. I made my first 2 sales last month and it isn’t even ranking yet.
-I helped a friend at church go from no website to having 6 of the top 10 spots on Google Page 1 for her massage therapy business. In ONE WEEK! That was a real confidence booster.
-Chased a lot of shiny things myself. But no more!
In the rest of the year my goals are:
-Complete my Newsletter series for the affiliate site to start building a list.. I plan to have the first 20 emails loaded into Aweber.
-Add the Capture form to my site, both in static form and a pop up.
-Write at least 10 more articles and submit to directories.
-Make at least 10 videos using Camtasia or Animoto and submit to Tube Mogul.
-Create at least 10 Web 2.0 properties linking back to pages on my site.
-Create a WRITTEN plan for my business goal for 2010, including specific, actionable steps to achieve them.
- Finish the last “shiny thing” I bought, a course an helping local businesses improve their search engine rankings.
Strangely, the one that intimidates me the most is the planning one. I also think it is the one that will have the most impact on my success, so I will grit my teeth and just do it.
Thanks again Paul.

Paul,
This year I expanded my customer base mnostly thru home parties. But, because I want to use technology more with my business, I have invested in your program and obtained a mentor from one of the other home party online sites. I am slow with this because I donot have any formal learning experience about the internet–how to set up websites or squeeze page and other aspects. But I am willing to learn. So I will use your program to develop my skills and knowledge. That is what I am committed to doing for the next 31 days

Excellent. And remember that skills an knowledge have few barriers. You can take what you learn online and use it offline!

To Kent:
My heart goes out to you. I can relate to your loss through the death of a loved one. My Dad died when I was 10 years old, and I’ve lost some uncles & aunts, my grandpa, and both grandmas since then. I thought I could handle just about anything. However, I was totally unprepared for the death of my Mother almost 3 years ago. It has been very difficult for me to go on in many ways. I have slumped nearly into depression the last 2 years during the holidays and have not been able to bring myself to write a Christmas letter yet since she died. A couple of weeks ago I found a scripture that has brought me much healing and has been a real breakthrough for me. I’d like to share it with you. It is Psalm 116:15 and says “Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints.” Wow! If it is precious in the His sight, who am I to question it or think otherwise? No, anything that is precious to my Lord is worthy of celebration. So it is with a glad heart I share this with you tonight and I will write a Christmas letter this year!
Kent, I hope this brings you some hope and encouragement.
Blessings, Susan M.
P.s. Paul – the comments shared on this post have been a real encouragement. I’ll post later with my list of things done and to be done by Dec. 31

On #5 of accomplishments this year, I should have mentioned that I sold 32 seats on the webinar at an average of ~$63/seat.
Students saved a reported average of over $100 the FIRST WEEK.

This Year? WOW. It took me all year to unwind and shut down my business that I had built for the past fifteen years – Architectural Woodworking and Interiors in the Hamptons, working on the most luxurious homes on the planet. My biz imploded along with the financial markets, whose leaders formed my client list. 3 of last years clients were victims of the Madoff scandal. Current status? FIRED UP!!! My back is to the wall and I am coming out swinging, starting a web business with zilch capital little knowledge, and a mountain of bills around my neck. My first little amateur video for list building goes on youtube tonight at 9pm. I am pumped up to see my very first optin! Never ever be ashamed of small beginnings. From little acorns mighty oaks grow.
Challenges?
1.)Getting comfortable with publishing a less than perfect product – it goes against all my instincts (try producing sloppy work on a 45 million dollar home and see how that works out)
2.)Keeping my eye on the ball for this business with all sorts of pressure from old business etc.
3.)Learning who to listen to and who to ignore for advise in a field i am not experienced in.
[Reply]
Paul Evans :
Peter,
“Fired Up!”
Love that.
On #1 – imperfect work isn’t nec. sloppy. But a $17 is certainly different from a $45m home. Of course, I been in some of that level that the decor and taste sure seemed less than perfect!

Have a GREAT day!

Dear Paul,
This year, I:
1. Was laid-off on Jan. 16
2. Got a job offer, moved my family cross-country, and started my new job five weeks later.
3. Didn’t have to buy groceries for until first paycheck came in because we had created a stockpile of groceries using the techniques we teach in our course.
4. Signed up with my first JV and presented my sell webinar to over 400 people. (Due to a technical glitch, there was no audio; but still almost 300 people stayed on the call to watch the slide.)
5. Launched my 3-part webinar class and recorded it.
6. Produced the video replays for my students.
7. Created a membership site, put the videos there and gave all of my students access to them.
8. Created a private students-only blog.
9. Set up an affiliate program with JROX.
10. Have begun consulting others on adding/increasing/improving their online marketing efforts.
In the next 31 days, I will:
1. Find 2-4 JVs to present a free webinar: Getting Started Saving with Coupons
2. Launch my home study course: Start Saving with Coupons
3. Launch my gold membership site at $17/mo, giving home study course students 2 free months with automatic billing after that.
4. Gold membership site will include one Q&A and/or interview webinar a month, and at least weekly premium blog posts on maximizing grocery savings.
5. Choose the next niche to duplicate successes.
6. Launch a consulting business helping others duplicate my successes.
Thanks for making me type that out, Paul!

Hi Paul,
I have kind of made a mess of things this year in one way, but not in another.
I have resigned from my job in a call centre and decided to go full time on line. The strangest thing is that I did it in August and it is now the beginning of November and I have made little progress and things are very tough.
The scourge of the internet is not on the internet itself but the behaviour of people who are looking to build a business online and think they have to purchase the next shiny object that comes along!
And I very much include myself in this category…. its like, stop it, just stop it! So I haven’t purchased anything for a while now and have committed to using all the materials I have already purchased … and there are quite a few. I have managed to resist the impulse thinking the next product is the magic bullet that will solve all my problems! It won’t!
To make matters worse I have moved (unbeknown to me) to ‘apparently’ an area that has one of the highest unemployment rates in the Australia, if not the highest. So my options are kind of limited. What was I thinking?
I need to make money fast! I have registered with Clickbank and have chosen two affiliate products, both by the same person, and I think they are pretty good (I’ve already purchased them and gone through their material).
However, on the good side, I have bought a domain and created a hosting account. I saw the info above you posted for Becky which looks good and have downloaded Jing.
There is something that just stops me from posting to my blog, some feeling of putting something out there that isn’t perfect. My biggest challenge is strategy and goal setting, any tips?
Good to see sooo many positive people on this blog and your words of inspiration are always timely. You are a shining light to many, myself included.
Many thanks and God bless.
Malcolm.
[Reply]
Paul Evans :
Hey Malcolm,
Stay strong!
Good move on getting your product picked in Clickbank.
Now the key is getting folks to that page.
Forget perfection. It’s overrated.
Here’s why…
Perfectionist EACH have their own scale of judgment. So even tho you might satisfy ONE you can’t satisfy all. Choose to do good work. Solid content. But forget getting it perfect.
I’d go with the same goal set by Becky. It’s not about tips. It;s about saying, “I am going to do X” and then having the discipline to do it.
Peace,
paul

What do you mean by an Affiliate based autoresponder sequence?
Thanks,
Patti
[Reply]
Paul Evans :
Hi Patti,
An affiliate based autoresponder sequence is an automated followup messaging service like Aweber that you load with affiliate product recommendations.
Message 1 may be = Welcome to my list
Message 2: Checkout this cool product (affiliate link)
Message 3: How you liked cool product affiliate link. Here’s how I am using it.
Message 4: Here’s something new that you’ll love… affiliate link.
Hope that helps.

This year, I’ve nurtured and cared for 3 more teens from poverty that I adopted in addition to the other now grown up four teens I adopted.
I rejoice in seeing my present teens, 19 year old girl, 14 year old girl and 13 year old boy succeed. When they were young, they ran in the streets in torn clothes, malnourished and without education. This last quarter, they brought home mainly A’s and some “B’s” One day when I got stuck coming home behind their school bus, tears of joy came as I savored the accomplishment of this goal of giving them a better life and hope for the future.
This Thanksgiving I rejoiced at the abundance they enjoy now. They have come along way! All because people who supported us took the time to care. My goal and desire is to do more to help other children and teens through my writing. My motto is “from poverty to purpose, giving hope for the future one life at a time”
This year I made progress on my new wordpress website and hope to work on the sidebars before the end of the year. My husband and I are facing foreclosure because we overextended ourselves to help kids in poverty in an orphanage we had established overseas. I am having to move so it is challenging to do very much on my business and I’m doing the little I can like reading this article.
I purchased SixSimpleFigures and listened to the first part of that program and plan to listen to more while I pack. This program has greatly encouraged me that I can do this and be successful! I’m thrilled I found it!
I plan to listen to my other online courses while I pack as well. Knowledge is power!
With the foreclosure, things are bleak right now but I my goal is to focus on the internet and to build a successful business that will not only benefit me but many others! God restores what we’ve lost and I look forward to being His partner in restoration for myself and to continue to help others find their restoration!
Your quote, “success is not an accident” encourages and motivates me every time I read it.
Thanks for all you are doing to help orphans!

Hey Becky!
1. Pick a niche/market you love and cannot wait to serve.
2. Create a blog based on it.
3. If you can afford Aweber.com get a subscription. And instead of trying to get a squeezepage up get a sign up form online as fast as possible. http://www.aweber.com/faq/questions/241/How+Do+I+Integrate+My+Wordpress+Blog+With+AWeber%3F
4. Write articles and post on your blog and http://www.ezinearticles.com
5. Use http://www.jingproject.com/ to make short videos of your articles.
6. Post those videos on your blog and on YouTube
7. Write and article and make a video DAILY.
8. On your blog have ads for product you are an affiliate of in your market. Use http://www.clickbank.com to locate some top sellers.
That should get u started.

I set up my blog this year and began creating content. I created a mini course to provide to subscribers and started building a list. While doing this I found myself wondering where I was really going with the whole thing. Now I know I’m building a membership site! This next month I’m publishing more content, finishing up course pages, learning video and mp3 creation and sharing, and setting up the membership site back end based on the Simple Six formula!

You can write an ebook, don’t over think it. Maybe write one that will be free, that will take pressure off. Then you can build on that. Start with your outline, a catchy title. Then go to killercovers and you can get your cover designed. That is so exciting when yo see the cover, it looks so professional.
Then just write one section at a time.
I did it, you can to!
Go girl!

My goal is to focus on ONE site, write an article a day and begin building a list. I’m the poster child for not focusing and jumping around from one place to another. I spend hours online and do not focus so I accomplish nothing. SO I will focus, write an article a day and build my list.

Paul Evans :
OK, Lisa.
One article a day for 31 days!
That’s your assignment.
30 minutes an article.
Peace,
paul

I have a couple sites, and I am creating a plan. I have no list, so I am needing to build a list. I am very new to this and I appreciate all of your information Paul. My main focus for the next 31 days and beyond is to educate myself and implement my plan. I have learned that I have to keep it simple, start slow (limited funds)and build. Actions speak louder then words for sure.

What I have done this year so far is, created a free 5 part e-course in the personal development arena, using camtasia software with audio, worksheets, video and transcripts.
Written 3 articles for ezine, multiple blogs posts with stories, audio and video. Written 4 twenty page reports that will be part of my upcoming webinar series and landed a webinar with the best selling author Gerry Robert author of Millionaire Mindset for January or February, I have his commitment we are just waiting on a time frame when his material will be ready. We are currently working on promoting the Webinar with Gerry to others and their lists who may be interested in “changing the way we think” to help with fear elimination for momentum building. And, we are working on a game.
The one thing I am focusing on is building a list, keeping that funnel full and bringing excellent content and products to these people. Paul Evans has given me hope that a profit can be made as well. Through his program, he has put me on the right track and I can’t thank God enough for him and his hard work. Thanks Paul

You know what, I always try to go to be early, because I know that how good (rested) I feel in the morning is a great determiner in how I’ll feel the rest of the day and the amount I get done for that day.
I keep in mind that “tomorrow starts today,” and I remind myself the importance of getting a good night’s sleep.
Likewise, next year starts this month.
…And no, I’m not saying you should go to sleep now and put things off till you “wake up” next year, I’m just saying that you should do everything you can today, as if it were January 1st.
