Issue 105 :: Money Making Messages – Part 2
By Paul Evans
================================
Yaaaaawn. Sleepy today.
Got up at my normal 4 am and then biked 20 miles.
Now it’s 2:17 in the afternoon and I’m about to get packed to head over to Atlanta. Meeting Mike Stewart – The Internet Audio Guy – for lunch tomorrow. And hanging out with some friends.
Having a “schedule” like that reminds me of my favorite answer when people ask, “What do you do?”
It can be tough to answer, but I’ve been experimenting a bit. Here’s the latest..
Me: “I’m a freedom architect.”
Them: Strange look.
Them: “Freedom architect?”
Me: “Yep. I help people gain financial freedom so they can have physical freedom instead of being locked in a cubical or any other small indoor space when they should be outside playing golf or stuff.”
Them: Sad look from being in a small space all day.
Them: “You think you could help me get free like that?”
Me: “Maybe.” Wink.
Them: Smile
Me: Bigger smile
Which brings us to part 2 of this series…
Freedom is definitely accelerated when you have a loyal group of people who enjoy your content. Whose trust you’ve earned through consistency and value. Let’s look at the next 3 tips for creating money making messages.
05 :: Split Test For The Perfect Balance
As your list grows, you will want to split test your messages. You might find that the way you set things up in the beginning wasn’t best. We all want to improve our results and split testing makes that possible. By tweaking a few things here and there you can increase your open rate and responses.
If you have a good autoresponder company, the chances are high that they will provide you with the information and tools you need to split test.
Companies like Aweber will automatically send half of your list one message and the other half a different message. They will then track the results so you can compare them and make changes.
06 :: Consider The 3-to-1 Formula
A popular formula that some of the top marketers use is sending 3 relationship building e-mails to every 1 sales e-mail. This is especially important in the beginning stages, and will set the tone for later e-mails.
What you might want to do is have the first e-mail be entirely focused on offering quality information and building a relationship, the second e-mail making a very soft pitch, the third e-mail selling a little harder, and finally the fourth e-mail blatantly promoting a product.
If it makes you feel more comfortable having a system to work with, then this is a sequence that you may want to use.
07 :: Study The Basics Of Copyrighting
You may not think of yourself as a copywriter, but I recommend that you study the basics.
Elements such as the AIDA formula will certainly improve your writing and response levels.
AIDA stands for:
Attention
Interest
Desire
Action
Capturing their attention, interest, desire, and finally having them perform the desired action.
No, I’m certainly not recommending that you hold off on starting a list or growing your list until you’re a highly skilled copywriter, but I do recommend checking out good copy to help add oomph to your newsletters and articles.
Next time, issue 106, we’ll hit the final 3 tips in this series.
Success is NOT an Accident,
