It Don’t Work That Way

Emails come in that say stuff like…

Q: “I’ve got an unhappy customer. What do I do?”

A: “Do your best to make her happy.”

Q: “Tried that. What’s next?”

A: “Wave and blow a kiss.”

Everyone is not meant to be together.

We can’t (and shouldn’t try) to make the perpetually unhappy, happy.

It just don’t work that way.

We don’t all connect.

We don’t all blend.

“Can’t we all just get along?” Rodney King, May 1, 1992.

Nope.

Wish we could.

But it ain’t happening.

Why?

We’re all different.

Example:

I don’t like vegetables, but I love cows (but not as pets).

Now then. Veggie lovers are super tempted to make a comment spouting the health benefits of broccoli and other dark greens. Then they will mention the hazards of red meat.

And I’d say something smart like, “What?”

And they would return to their plate of grass and me to the deliciouso filet mignon and previously live Maine lobster.

OK. Beef and beets may not be major (at least to me), but if we can’t agree on FOOD we’re not going to agree all the time in business.

It’s cool.

It’s OK.

It’s no big deal.

Focus your time and attention on the dozens, hundreds, thousands who do love you. And forget chasing the one or two that don’t.

Wait…

I see a burger on the mooooooove. Come’er Bessie!!!!

Success is NOT an Accident,

Paul

Yeah. Had this experience with my first unsubscribe. “Why… why don’t they love me…”

250 and counting unsubscribes later, it still kills a little of me deep inside. Just a little. I don’t know why I torture myself by reading the feedback but I just care I guess ;)

This is my favourite unsubscribe feedback.

“I did bought several items on the internet that should change my life, the
Secret cd;subliminal video’s;the Silva sytem,THEY HAVE NO EFFECT ON ME DESPITE THE PROMISES,they only cost me money with NO RESULTS.So your book also promises results but I doin’t trust it and think that the only one who benefits from this is the guy who recieve my money.”

Sometimes it’s not us, people have just been hurt in the past. Let it go.

It helps if you just know you’ll get at least 1 unsubscribe with each email you send. “Come’ere, Bessie!!!’ Oh, thanks for the laugh!

I recently got an email that said. “I just bought your athlete’s book (which is called THE ATHLETE’S EDGE) I am a stock trader, not an athlete. Please issue me a refund.”

    Moooo!

unfortunately this type of mentality has to be carried on into ALL aspects of life and yeah, unhappy people are not happy for reasons even they don’t always know about, like who buys an athlete’s book when they know they are not an athlete! You are responsible for putting out the products you are most convicted about, stand behind and believe in and are NOT responsbile for how others interpret, use or don’t get out of it. they have a CHOICE to take it or leave it…

and those others, the others who WANT to ‘get it”, who WANT something you CAN give them, well appeal to their heart as they are crying out for something and if you still can’t, bless them and wish them well in their search. YOu did all you could and that is all you are asked to do anyways.

    blessings,
    lisa
