Let’s go back in time. Waaaaaaaaaaaaaay back in time.
Twenty-three years ago.
I say waaaaaaaaay back because that’s over half of my lifetime ago.
Back then I was a bodybuilder and a power lifter.
Back then I was in fantastic shape.
Back then I was incredibly strong.
Back then.
A few weeks ago my 16-year-old son Steven was admiring my physique and said, “Daddy. You’re past your prime.”
WHAT?!
I RAN to the mirror. Sure enough. I don’t look like I did at 20. Not as strong. Not as ripped. (OK, not ripped at all.)
So I’ve continued to RUN. But not to the mirror. I’m running as I make my way back into shape.
On this morning’s run I was listening to Zig Ziglar. He spoke about retirement. He said that retirement at age 65 was a travesty when so many people are just hitting their peak.
And then I started thinking about so many of you.
While there are thousands of young whippersnappers on the Nicheology Profit Letter there are also thousands of my generation and older.
Many write in saying something along the lines of, “I’m afraid it’s too late to get started. I didn’t grow up with computers.”
Maybe you feel past your prime.
Or past your peak.
Listen, you pass your peak when you DECIDE to go downlhill. As long as you’re working, striving and moving you’ve not hit your peak yet!
Has Betty White hit her peak??????????????
No way!
You’re never too young. You’re never too old. And it’s never too late!
Success is NOT an Accident!

Re Past Your Peak, let me tell you that I am a mere 77, homeless for 3 months, in the hospital with emotional breakdown, acute bronchitis and back spasms while lifting boxes moving. It was pretty awful. Now I’m on the other side, found a wonderful family who took me and my kitty in & have treated me beautifully! I’m pretty well healed & rarin’ to go, thx to my church and David Perdew, whose generosity knows no limits! (He told me to get with Paul Evans & here I am).

Paul Evans :
Wow, Skipper!!!!!!! Thank you for not giving up!
Thanks to your church and David as well. We CANNOT go through life alone.

A dear friend of mine, who lived to be 90, once told me he would rather wear out than rust away. I plan to keep on keeping on until I wear out. And hopefully that won’t be for quite awhile:)

Paul Evans :
Love that attitude!!!

Thanks Paul,
You just wonderfully affirmed my own beliefs. I am almost 61 and have learned sooooo much in this past year. I am almost ready to launch my site which I built myself. Creating my own video products and getting ready to open to the world is something I would never have dreamed I’d be doing 5 years ago!!!
Twenty years ago I used to do long distance, endurance bicycle riding. All my friends always said “How can you do that, I could never ride that long!” I always replied that they could IF they wanted to. It was merely a matter of will (and training, building up to it-but the will must come first!).
The only limits to what we can accomplish are the ones that we set ourselves.
I am thrilled to see so many people in my age group responding to this!!
Thanks,
Karen Kuntz

At age 71 perhaps the tools aren’t quite as sharp, but by golly, there’s no need for a scrap pile yet

I just hit the 50 last week. I still feel like a 23 year old (but I don’t look like one anymore 8=)
Thanks for the encouragement to keep going. I’ve got a lot of great years left in me and I’ve got a lot of experience too. The young whippersnappers can’t compete with us there!

Nice one, Paul What an encouragement for us, baby boomers united! Mind you, I have four dear sons and not one of them has accused me of being past my prime but then I have never been a body-builder! They do accuse me of embarrassing them on occasions in other ways tho’ but I explain that that is what dads are for (lol)
At 64 and as a lifelong entrepreneur there is no chance of intentional retirement so I plan to keep working whilst God gives me the strength to do so here in the UK
Have recently discovered your good-self online and have enjoyed your emails and videos etc – thanks for what you give (especially to us oldies -like me) Andrew and may God richly bless you

Dear Paul & Carrie:
You two have had such a positive influence on my psychie (sp?)
I just have to say this:
I’m approaching my seventh decade rapidly. When I turned 30 I realized it was just ONE day, and have not been bothered by age since. Until now.
When am I gonna be able to comprehend that the reason my life is the way it is because of the choices I’ve made and forgive myself?
The answer is RIGHT NOW. TODAY is the day the Lord has made. I WILL rejoice and be glad in it. That’s a choice, and a healthy one too!
I’m never going to retire. Pressure is removed by making this decision, and a new perspective has been embraced.
Too many young people are looking for strong leaders. I’m one of those leaders, and now I’m both willing and able to take the responsibility seriously.
Thanks for all you do!
In Christ,
Terry

Thanks so much for that reminder!!! Some nights I lay in bed at night and think, who am I kidding? By the time I get this off the ground, I will be too old to care..
I love Zig myself and he is a great reminder of what can be accomplished at any age and of course those of us who know Christ, know that all things are possible through Him.
Whenever I read your emails, I get inspired!!!

I agree with you Paul. I’m 55 and still learning as much stuff as I can. I’m certainly not ready to give up and retire in the foreseeable future.
