It Just Doesn’t Take A Lot [172]

View from Evans' Mountain :-)

The family and I are still hanging out in the mountains of TN. Good times!

Last night we had and incredible meal at Foothills Milling Company. The Vaughn brothers place ranks in my top 10 restaurants ever. They have something special.

On the way back to the cabin my sister-in-law, T, started talking about her dream to create a site for teen girls. A community for them to share their hurts and healings.

We talked about what she would need to get started.

As I am typing, T and my 16 year old have gotten the site up. Created the graphics. And she’s outlined her first year of newsletters and sketched out the book she is going to write this summer.

Hmmmm….. weird.

T’s not zipping all over the net trying to figure out the “best” way.

She’s not making it hard or confusing.

She’s has a burden in her heart (see issue 171) and she’s figuring out a way to release it while helping as many young ladies as possible.

Is she going to be profitable by tomorrow?

Nope.

But by mid-summer T’ll have a few thousands teens communicating with her and with each other.

And when she gets ready to release her book, she will have a crowd waiting with mom’s credit card.

The thing I am loving most is hearing the excitement.

Every change to the page brings a squeal.

Every cool tweak delivers claps.

Sure, T’s starting a business. But she’s beginning with the conflict we talked about yesterday. And she’s having a BLAST.

The girl is not giving up her day job or dreaming of the big time. Just dreaming.

I also love that she’s starting in a healthy place.

Not a position of desperation or “have to do something.” But a platform of “I want to do this!!”

This is just flat out fun to watch and be a part of.

What about your voice? Your energy? Your fun?

A lot of thoughts hit your brain at 4:30 am on a bicycle as you listen to business training and watch for traffic all while keeping a pace.

Primarily the thoughts were of you… (My other thought was the huge 5 Guys Burgers and Fries meal I will inhale on Saturday as a reward for losing 15 pounds in the last month!!!!!!) But primarily my thoughts were of…

Your online success.

Your information publishing business.

Your achievement of financial security.

If you want those three things, then focus on smooth and steady. Make a commitment. Write down your business plan and work consistently toward it.

Otherwise you become a victim.

A victim of the Desperate Buyers Club.

Internet Marketers prey on the desperate. They know people who need money NOW will believe and buy almost anything. They know their product will not work for these people, but they don’t care. The main goal is to make the sale.

Unfortunately, that creates a legion of people who become disillusioned and even more desperate. But they keep buying and becoming more cynical about online business in general.

Sad.

All that could be avoided with…

Slow and steady.

A commitment to remain committed to the process of learning and applying online business strategies and modules that are proven to work time and again.

For example…

Nicheology – Certainly there are some people who join with the hopes of becoming an overnight success. They join for a month and give up.

However, there are a ton of people doing it right. They are learning from the training. They show up and apply the Profit Academy. They ask questions and get answers in the monthly Q & A Live call.

These silent successes operate in consistency.

Let’s bring it even closer to home with a brief post I made on the Warrior Forum that made a listing of “best threads”…

While most online success is painted as get rich quick, I’d like to tell you another story. It’s not a story of mega wealth or unbelievable riches. It’s a simple story of consistency.

For all of you who are finding over night success elusive, let me encourage you to remain steady.

Like most in the forum I’ve got various products across various niches. Some have been highly successful and others not so. But the site I get the most enjoyment from is slow and steady.

No immediate success. No “wow!” numbers that make others jealous.

About 3 years ago the site opened with a few files and articles in a small niche. The goal was to update the site with new content on Monday-Wednesday-Friday and send a “tip of the week” each Monday. The members pay $9.95 a month or $97 a year. Twenty joined the first month. More the second month and so on.

It’s up to several thousand members now, but only because of sticking to the plan. There are no affiliates, no launches, just Adwords and some SEO traffic.

It would have been easy to give up a few months in, but I was trying to look a few years ahead.

Think about the time you have spent trying to make money fast. Think about the distraction. Think about the unfinished projects. Think about the pursuit of the next big thing.

Now think about focusing in just a few areas and becoming steady. No necessarily OCD on the area, just consistency. Imagine making a simple plan that you follow without fanfare on a daily basis. No rushing. No feeling overwhelmed. Just smooth and steady.

Here’s my encouragement…

01 :: Unsubscribe from the Desperate Buyers Club.

Make your decision to become a proactive business owner, not a victim of the hype and hope sales pitch.

02 :: Commit to Smooth and Steady.

Do something everyday to build your online business. Do it with purpose. Serve your market. Provide value.

Success is NOT an Accident,
